Something rare and exciting for today: the Astro Berlin Tachonar 75mm f\/1.<\/p>\n
Probably the final lens calculated by Astro\u2019s founder Bielicke in 1942, this lens can be seen as the successor to Astro\u2019s previous Tachon ultra-speed lens range. This time they went for a different optical approach: you might know I have a slight obsession with the 135mm f\/2 Ernostar derivatives, sold by most of the mainline manufacturers in the 70s. With Astro being Astro, they\u2019ve cranked up this design to 11: half the focal length while two full stops faster.<\/p>\n
Featuring five free-standing elements, Astro made them in 25, 35, 50, and 75mm. A rare design for good reasons: the Tachonars were used for scientific applications like Raman spectroscopy and as a TV lens, but certainly not for still photography.
